Happy Holidays!

wow...I guess I've been a little slack on the updates...damn.

well then, congrats are in order for JuTang and Sned for holding it down for Cardinal at the battle of the shops back on Nov 1st at Woodstock Park. Going it alone against Sk8 Supply and Dominion, the boyz took 1st place in the team competition! Many thanks to Sk8 Supply for sponsoring the event and all who came out to show their support!

The team just came back from a road trip/filming mission to Wilmington, NC, for another battle of the shops aboard the battleship, USS North Carolina. By all accounts, a good time was had by all.

X-Games 14

Two Va Beach rippers are competing this week in Los Angeles in a new X-Games event, Skateboard Superpark - Kyle Berard and Sergie Ventura. We wish them both the best of luck and hope they make it to the finals which will be aired live on ABC beginning at 3PM this Sunday, August 3rd, 2008. Also this weekend is tax-free shopping for back-to-school items such as shoes, clothes and back packs. Come in this weekend and check out all the new gear and get it all tax free!

Cardinal's 5-year anniversary party!

Cardinal Skate Shop will be 5 years young on August 22, 2008 and we are planning a celebration. We haven't firmed up the details yet, but we're planning on throwing a party at one of the oceanfront establishments that Friday evening, which also coincides with the annual ECSC. More details to follow. In other news, we would like to welcome Cameron White to the staff at Cardinal. After a month-long search, we feel Cameron will be a perfect fit behind the counter taking care of all your skateboarding needs.

Coming in June - Red Bull Jersey Barriers Contest!

The Cardinal Skate Team has been invited to compete in the Red Bull Jersey Barriers Contest!

This is a best trick contest where the skater, filmer, and shop can all win $1000 each! 

Video clips will be judged by the Red Bull Skate Team. Cardinal is honored to be included

in the following East Coast skate shop line-up for this one-of-a-kind skateboarding event!

Battle of the Shops!

Come out to Woodstock park this Saturday, 11/24, as the Cardinal team takes on Sk8 Supply, 17th Street, Dominion, and Sole Brother in the first annual "Battle of the Boardshops".  Be there to witness  the best skateboarders in the area shred the plaza as they skate for the top 3, best trick, and best shop. First heat begins at 11AM.

The Cardinal team is blowin' up!

First, we would like to welcome Shawn Owens to the team. Shawn's mad skills and super smooth style are a staple in VB skateboarding. He has a sick video part in Clyde Singleton's "Minority Report" - check it out. Shawn stepped up to MC our GSD best trick contest at Woodstock park last week (see pics below). Not only a great skater, he's a really nice guy, and we are stoked to welcome him to the Cardinal family.

Pat Burke is moving up over at Black Box. He is now on the roster for Jamie Thomas' new company, $lave Skateboards. No doubt, the kid is going places! Congratulations Pat!

Julian Etheridge has been on the road hitting up the pro skate contest circuit from Fayettville, NC, for the Masa Pro, to Baltimore for the Dew Tour. Check out a clip of Julian at the Masa pro over at Temp's Blogspot.

June 21, 2007 - Go Skateboarding Day!

OK, so here's the deal. The Cardinal skate team will descend on the Woodstock skate plaza at 4PM today for a demo. After the guys get warmed up, we'll throw down some cash to see which rider brought the goods in a best-trick contest. After the demo, we have 100 FREE Go Skateboarding Day tee shirts to give away (skaters only - 1 per person until they're gone). Next, we'll have a another best- trick contest for anyone who wants to participate. Cardinal riders will judge.

We are pleased to announce that Julian Etheridge is Cardinal's newest team rider! Everyone

knows what a complete all-terrain ripper Julian is, and his talent, skills, and style on a skateboard

are some of the best the area has ever seen. He is at the top of his game and he keeps getting better!

Julian will be joining the team this weekend as they head to Raleigh for the "Battle of the Shops" at 

the Project 58 Skate Park.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Trashmore on Saturday and supported our effort 

to raise $$$ to help rebuild the skate park. We sold 210 "concrete don't burn" tees at $2/ea

and raised a total of $500 for the skate park, while we played the DC Skate Plaza dvd,

"Groundbreaking" all day long. We also took a survey with the following two questions:

1) Would you like to see the skate park rebuilt just like it was?

OR

2) Would you like to see a skate plaza built instead?

Here are the results: 

31 people who answered the survey said they'd like to see the skate park rebuilt just the way 

it was, while 291 said they want a skate plaza instead! We hear you, but now we all need to

make sure the city hears us. I don't know how much the city raised on Saturday, but they are 

getting ready to spend $200,000 rebuilding the bowl that most of you don't want. The city has

over $20 million of OUR dollars left over from the 2006 budget, and they are spending almost

$500,000 to bring a copy of the Magna Carta here for a temporary exhibit. Our money could 

be better spent, don't you think? Call or write City Council and Parks and Rec to be heard.

Many thanks to all who came out and skated in the 'eS Game of Skate on Tuesday. We had 103 skaters compete, and 3 Cardinal  

riders made it to the top 5. Littell Harris battled it out with a kid from NY in what was easily the most exciting match-up of the day.

John Chaplain, aka Big Oceanfront, was on-point in spite of his yellow shorts but got taken out by Cardinal employee Bryan Lotuaco, 

who made it to the finals and finished 3rd overall. Yeah Bryan! I've got to mention what a great job the emcee, Mark Waters of Sole 

Technology, and the whole 'eS crew did. These guys were phenomenal, very professional and friendly. And lastly, a big shout-out to Justin Eldridge who came out and signed autographs and posed for pictures all day long. Thanks again to everyone who helped set-up and clean up.

Pat Burke - Welcome to the team!!!

Cardinal proudly announces the latest addition to the skate team - Pat Burke! 

Pat is a well-known ripper from VB who is on flow for Zero and DC. He has 

recently been featured in checkouts in Transworld and Skateboarder magazines 

and has footage in the Zero New Blood special edition dvd. He is currently 

living in Vista, CA where he works part-time at Jamie Thomas' Black Box Distribution.

Look out for Pat in the near future, this kid is blowing up. We are completely 

stoked to welcome Pat to the team!
